Cairngorm 4000s Challenge This Weekend!

This weekend Matt will take on the Cairngorm 4000s challenge, which is a 22-mile approximate loop with 2250m ascent, scaling the UK's 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th biggest peaks and in the harsh Winter conditions. It will be testing but confidence is high and will be the next challenge ticked off from a long list!

The challenge is to scale all 5 of the peaks that sit above 4000ft in the Cairngorm Mountains (and the national park - the biggest in the UK) within 24 hours... which is a challenge in itself in the summer, let alone the harsh Scottish winter.

These 5 peaks are: [Rank in Britain]
Cairn Gorm (1245m / 4085ft) [7th]
Ben Macdui (1309m / 4295ft) [2nd]
Cairn Toul (1291m / 4236ft) [4th]
Sgor an Lochan Uaine (1258m / 4,127th) [5th]
Braeriach (1296m / 4252ft) [3rd]

Every one of these mountains are Munros and will count towards the teams Munro bagging total.

The expedition will start Friday when they leave Bristol for Scotland, the park is approximately 10 hours drive away and will mean that they will get there either late Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday morning. Then after a few hours sleep the team will crack on and climb these mountains one by one before the loop brings them back to Glenmore, where they started. After some rest and recovery, they will then make their way back home.

The weather is scheduled to be light snow for a small while and cold but dry! The team will be prepared and equipped accordingly.

The team consists of Matt Roberts, Benny Dobson and Louie. Jack Roberts is still tentatively on this journey but logistics might be an issue so will confirm later on in the day.

Full report of the weekend's events will be posted early next week!
